While we continue to try to meet the immediate needs of our community, we also know that band-aid solutions are not enough, and that we must work together to create a world in which no one has to line up in a church for nutritious food or winter shelter. We maintain close connections with the poverty reduction committee of the Diocese and the advocacy committee of St Stephen’s Community House, and we are engaged in lobbying all levels of government for policies which will reduce poverty, including raising the minimum wage and building more affordable housing.
